Mammalogy

- a branch of biology

- the study of mammals and their diversity and distribution on Earth

- also known as mastolgy, theriology and therology

- also a branch of zoology

- Mammals- is a class of vertebrates with charasteristics such as homeothermic metabolism, fur, four chambered hearts and complex nervous systems

- Mammalogy branches off into other taxnomically-oriented disciplines such as primatology and cetelogy

- 2 of the characteristics that distinguish mammals from the other vertebrates are the presence of hair on at least part of their bodies and the fact females nourish their young with milk secreted by their mammary glands
